Data is now a key business asset, particularly in the energy sector.

This data comes from acquisition campaigns, sensors, production lines or is collected on the web. They are made available to the company for interpretation or to feed new models (physical models or models based on artificial intelligence), generating new data.

This data is therefore very diverse, but most of it contains location information, known as georeferenced data - or geo-data.

The Geo Data Management for Energy Mix programme trains data managers who are particularly skilled at understanding and modelling the data generated in the energy sector.

Certification

The ‘Geo Data Management for Energy Mix’ programme awards two international certifications :

• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) by Data Management Association (DAMA),
• Certified associate in project management (CAPM®).

All courses and practical work are taught by lecturers from ENSG Geomatics and IFP School, as well as recognised players from the professional world.

Entry requirements

• 5 years' higher education (engineering degree, master's degree) in geosciences, petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, mining, IT, banking, etc.
• M1 with 3 years' professional experience in one of the above sectors
• validation of personal and professional achievements (VAPP)

• 15,000 or €30,000 if the student is an employee of a company (seconded professional)

Students on the programme are either self-financed or sponsored by industrial partners (through sponsorship or study leave), who finance their living costs during this academic period and contribute to their tuition fees.
Corporate support includes national and international companies, government and international institutions.

Target skills

• Define the key challenges of data management and its relevance in the geo-resource value chain
• Understand the acquisition, processing and interpretation of geographical data, including GIS use
• Explain the various data management functions (body of knowledge DMBoK) and data management best practices involved in geo-resources and energy projects
• Apply these key functions to the exploitation of geo-resources and renewable energies: data governance, data modelling, database architectures, etc.
• Collect and manipulate a variety of data types used in geo-resource projects
• Quickly become part of industrial working groups
