The Master 2 in Information Systems Technologies (IST) is a highly technical course that provides students with all the tools they need to design and manage an information system capable of processing geolocated data or other data repositories: modelling and architectures, information processing and dissemination, processing automation. It also provides students with unique expertise, enabling them to better master these information systems and the use of massive volumes of data of all types.

The aim of this master’s degree is to train students to design and implement IT tools for integrating, structuring and visualizing data in a complete IT system, from hardware to software and embedded systems.

The courses in this master’s programme are taught on the ENSG's premises over the course of one academic year.

The first semester of the M2 corresponds to 45 ECTSs of theoretical training (approximately 785 hours spread over lectures, tutorials and projects) between October and April.

The second semester of M2 corresponds to a long-term internship worth 15 ECTSs (4 to 6 months, from the beginning of May to mid-September), either in a research laboratory, a company or an administration. This placement culminates in a written report and an oral presentation before a jury between mid-September and early October.

Entry requirements

Access to the Master 2 TSI is subject to having obtained the first year of a master’s degree or a diploma of at least equivalent level for :

• Students enrolled in geomatics master’s programmes, including the Geomatics Master 1 co-accredited by Université Gustave Eiffel and ENSG.
• students in science master’s programmes (computer science, physics, signal processing, etc.) and engineering school students, keen to learn more about the application aspects of these disciplines
• Master's students in geography and land-use planning (urban planning, architecture, etc.), with skills in computer science, data analysis, signal processing and/or GIS, and wishing to specialise
• Professionals with several years' practical experience in geomatics who wish to develop their theoretical and methodological skills in data analysis

Procedure

Students are recruited based on an application file and an interview with a panel of examiners.

Skills acquired

The aim of the Master 2 TSI is to provide fundamental knowledge in:

• Modelling and processing geographical information, automating processing;
• Vertical programming (from sensors to programming frameworks).

It also aims to enable students to:

• Design a method for analysing an IT problem, gathering and analysing the need and then transcribing it into a computer language after defining the technical choices;
• Be familiar with the many aspects to be considered when carrying out IT projects (project management, continuous integration, IS architecture, etc.).

The holder of this speciality will be able to take part in research projects or technological developments in the field of digital geographic information and 3D data representation, and manage the problems involved in scaling up (architecture and calculations: distributed computing, parallel computing, GPU computing, etc.).

Careers

This combined professional/research-oriented course is designed to give access to jobs as study engineers, research engineers and project managers in companies (digital geography, geomatics, geophysical prospecting, environment, defence, consultancy offices or local authorities).

It also enables students to go on to complete a thesis, with subsequent job opportunities in higher education or in research in public or semi-public organisations.
