Research at ENSG

Developing knowledge and fuelling innovation in the field of geographic information: these are the research missions of ENSG-Géomatique. These missions contribute particularly to IGN's outreach and technological excellence.

Forest Inventory Laboratory (LIF)

Research at ENSG-Géomatique supports innovation in the National Forest Inventory. This inventory is one of IGN's responsibilities; it provides information on the state of the French forest, its evolution over time and its potential. In Europe, for example, the French forest is unique in its diversity. Therefore, the forest inventory is an important tool for understanding climate change.

LASTIG Laboratry

The IGN's research into acquiring, processing and exploiting geographical data and geovisualisation is carried out by the LASTIG (Laboratory in Sciences and Technologies of Geographical Information for the City and Sustainable Territories).
